Sunday night is nails night!
Tonight’s mani is Galaxy Nails! This is where I got my inspo from:
This is what I wanted my nails to look like – a nebula:
These are the polishes I used to create my look:
L’oreal Resist & Shine 736 (Black Turquoise), China Glaze For Audrey, Orly Royal Navy, OPI Grape…Set Match, OPI Servin’ Up Sparkle & Essie Good to Go topcoat.
L’oreal Resist & Shine 736 – They call it “Black Turquoise” but it looks like the darkest, blackest green to me! It’s basically black in daylight, the green only shows under flash:
OPI Grape…Set Match & OPI Servin’ Up Sparkle are from the OPI/Serena Williams Glam Slam set:
This is what I did to get my look:
2 coats L’oreal Resist & Shine 736
Sponged on one drop of China Glaze For Audrey per nail
Sponged on one drop of Orly Royal Navy per nail
Sponged on one drop of OPI Grape…Set Match per nail
1 coat of OPI Servin’ Up Sparkle
1 coat of Essie Good to Go topcoat
This is what my sponge looked like (left) and this is what my nails looked like after sponging (right):
Seriously, you can use any sponge, the sponge I used was from packing material! You fold the sponge in half and paint one dot of nail polish on the edge and then dot it and blend it to spread the colour around and smooth out any hard edges.
The final result… Galaxy Nails:
Don’t you think they look like little Nebulas? (!)
Tip 1: You have to use metallic polishes to get the Galaxy look. Matte polishes won’t give you the same effect.
Tip 2: If I were to do it again, I wouldn’t use the Orly Royal Navy, I’d use a lighter blue like OPI Austin-tatious Turquoise.
Tip 3: You have to use holographic glitter topcoat if you want it to look iridescent like a galaxy, regular silver glitter will make it look more like a night sky.
Have you tried Galaxy Nails before?
What polishes did you use? Have you got any tips?
